After a long illness, former Director General of OAO «Nizhnekamskneftekhim» G.Z. Sakhapov died at the age of 86.
The contribution of Gayaz Zyamikovich to the formation of the Neftekhimik Hockey Club can hardly be overestimated. Gayaz Zyamikovich stood at the origins of the development of professional hockey in Nizhnekamsk. Neftekhimik with the help of G.Z. Sakhapov, moved forward step by step towards its goal. In 1995, Neftekhimik won the Russian Open Championship, thanks to the personal guarantees of Gayaz Zyamikovach for the construction of an indoor Arena and financing the team at the required level, Neftekhimik was accepted into the elite of Russian hockey – the International Hockey League.In the difficult 90s, G.Z. Sakhapov thought, dreamed and made plans for the future, plans for the development of professional and children's hockey, which are being implemented to this day.
Neftekhimik hockey club expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gayaz Zyamikovich Sakhapov. Memories about him will always remain in hearts of all hockey fans.
