Alexander Dergachyov: «We need to score more goals»

05.03.2026

Neftekhimik forward Alexander Dergachyov speaks with the media after a following 3–7 loss against Admiral.

– Frankly, the start of the game was slow. Why?
It was probably slow based on the score. Generally speaking, we always get ready for the first period, sort of talk things through, but then we concede first. That's why something in our heads goes haywire, and we start to give the initiative to our opponent. That's probably why it feels like we started slow. Of course, it's better to score first and control the game, have more puck possesion, but so far it's not working.

The first two periods were quite tough. What, in your opinion, were the main difficulties?
It's all coming together. On the one hand, there's the losing streak, and on the other, there are significant losses in the lineup. It all adds up, and it turns out to be such a lackluster game. We still need to find ways out of this situation, talk more, and believe in victory, because there aren't many games left – just a few. I think we'll figure out where we need to improve and then we'll play a different game.

What's the team's emotional state right now after such a game and a losing streak?
Well, as they say, these things happen. What's important here isn't the final result, but how we react to it. That's why I'm saying we still have good players, and we need to score more goals, control the puck more. It's hard to say right now after the game, but I think a new day will bring food for thought.

Could you say a few words to the fans who continue to support the team?
Well, of course, we haven't made the fans as happy as we used to, but we'll try to win and turn things around. Because our most important players are our fans. So, I really wanted them to support us in moments like these.
