Reaktor forward Artyom Berezin speaks with the media after a following 3–2 overtime win over Loko–76.
– Artyom, the day has finally arrived. You went over forty JHL games without scoring. You have finally netted your first goal. Did that relieve some of the pressure you were feeling?– It definitely lifted some of the pressure. I finally managed to score. I am grateful to my teammates for their support today.
– What are your thoughts on today’s game? It was a tough opponent – they were aggressive with their pressing and really put us under pressure. What went right, and what did not work?
– We did not get off to the best start, but then Danil Gataullin scored; the guys found their rhythm and immediately added a second goal. We sat back a bit too much in the second period, but in overtime, David Romanov used his speed to break away and score the winner.
– Did that early goal break the team's spirit? How did you manage to turn the game around so quickly?
– It did not break us. After the goal, we just got hungrier and played with more emotion. We became more aggressive. Once Gataullin scored, we kept up the pressure.
– There was also that tough moment when you were down to three men. In a way, did that bring the team closer together?
– The guys were amazing; they held firm. Those on the penalty kill put their bodies on the line to block shots. Everyone played the right way, and we won the game.
– Obviously, scoring that goal was a huge relief, but did it also give you a better understanding of how to play? What do you need to do to score more often?
– It will give me a bit more confidence. I need to keep improving with every game – to play the kind of hockey I am capable of and the kind I am expected to play.
