Evgeny Mityakin: «It is good that we managed to score in the first period»

Neftekhimik forward Evgeny Mityakin speaks with the media after a following 4–5 overtime loss against Torpedo.
– The opponent started actively. But in the second period we were able to turn the game around, it was an equal game. In the third period we had nowhere to retreat, we needed to equalize the score, which we did. In overtime, due to a mistake, we missed an annoying goal. But it's good that we took a valuable point, which will help us in the future. The team showed its character.

– What happened in the first period?
– The opponent started well, they can be praised for that. And we started a little timidly. They pressed, scored goals. It is good that we managed to score in the first period. We talked in the locker room, the coach made adjustments and things got going.

– Some aggression appeared in the third period. Where did you get it from?
– We always play actively. This is hockey, you don not want to lose. Everyone fights until the end. It doesn’t matter what the score is. We didn’t give up, we played until the end. Hockey is an unpredictable sport. As a result, aggression, body checks, and skirmishes are visible.

– Probably, skirmishes and aggression only benefited your team?
– Yes, we could say so. But you need to play actively and aggressively in every game. We got going in the third period, it is only for the better.

– Import players played well in the third period.
– That is right. I want to congratulate Luka Profaca on his first KHL goal. He scored two goal. Dea scored an important goal. In principle, I want to praise the whole team. No one gave up, everyone fought, everyone for each other. Together, we were able to tie the score in the match.

– Did you score a good goal?
– Maybe, Dea made a good pass. All I had to do was hit it.
