Reaktor head coach Igor Fyodorov talks about a 6–5 shootout win over Tyumesky Legion.
– We wanted to play pragmatically, because we needed a win at all costs. We spent half the game like that. We achieved a solid four–goal advantage. After that, we started making unthinkable mistakes. After that, Tyumensky Legion scored two goals in 33 seconds in the third period, we simply became afraid to play. We threw the puck away as if it were poison. As a result, we missed a fifth goal a minute before the end of regular time. Many thanks to our goaltender Semyon Lyubalin and everyone who scored during shootout series. They saved us from shame. After all, it was a victory. No matter how hard–fought battle it was, it was still a victory. And maybe we needed it like this... With the nerves, with the need to show character.
Last season we did not win a single shootout series, and this season we won the first one. That is also a good thing.
