Igor Grishin: «We analyze each task»

12.08.2025

Neftekhimik head coach Igor Grishin gave a comment after the open training session.

– Do your hockey players train or do they always just play hockey?
This is training process! Hockey is a game sport. In our strategy, almost all exercises are conducted in game mode. During games, they do what we practice during training. We analyze each task in detail in order to see the desired result during the matches.

Earlier, you said that at first it would be difficult for the players. How are they adapting now?
The guys on two–way contracts started training earlier. Therefore, it is easier for them, compared to other players. Nevertheless, they are getting used to it quite quickly. I hope that it is interesting for them, because this way the training process goes better.

At least in Nizhnekamsk, you tried yourself as a commentator for the first time. Today, with a microphone in your hands, you told the viewers about each exercise. What was it like?
– I have had similar experiences. I believe that if the fans come to a training session, they should understand the essence of the exercises. Each task has its own purpose. These exercises will be needed in the game, so it is important that there is a certain understanding of how this or that task is performed. I think it is more interesting for spectators. I told the fans the main points.

– In two days, Kazan will host a meeting with Ak Bars. After all, it is a derby. How ready is the team to meet a famous opponent?
– I doubt that any team is 100 percent ready now. Preseason is a great opportunity to study new players. Therefore, there is no excitement, now we are in the preparation stage for the new season.

– How important are open training sessions in terms of getting closer to the fans before the start of the season?
– Such training sessions are important: we work so that people come to Neftekhim Arena and get charged with new emotions. After all, hockey is not only a competition, but also a spectacle for people.
