Kondrat Reshetnikov: «I am happy that I play hockey»

13.11.2023

Reaktor forward Kondrat Reshetnikov talks about Canada, Nizhnekamsk and hockey.

– What do you think about your first JHL season?

– I am a forward; my main task is to score goals. I scored one goal so far. Probably, at first I was not ready for the JHL after the hockey school level. For the first two months, I had this kind of feeling. There are experienced players, such as Grisha Morozov or Nikita Khoruzhev. I am trying to get closer to their level. For instance, I had a problem with puck battling near the boards. I try to take the best things from their experience. I looked at the guys how they play. Now I do not have this problem.

– What can you say about the way Reaktor coaching staff prepare the team for the games?

– In St. Petersburg, my coach was Zak Oleg Yurievich. I know him since my childhood. He has a tough preparation and training process. Sure, there is also discipline. I realized that this is necessary and so important. The Reaktor coaching staff has the same approach.

– Can you say that the coaching staff trust you?

– Yes, they give me enough on-ice time. This is a great. We have plenty of young guys and this is cool. At the beginning of the season, I played on a line with Nikita Khoruzhev and Danila Medvedev, but it turned out that I was not a good match.

– Do not you think that the fact that you played on a line with your friends Joey-Christophe Muissu and Seva Sokolov helped in some way?

– Yeah, we are friends off-the ice. We are working on playing better and better. It does not mean that there was something about with my previous line. The coaching staff just found a better option.

– What were your first thought about Nizhnekamsk after St. Petersburg?

– At first it was unusual. In St. Petersburg, it took me 45 minutes to get to the Arena. Here you can use your bicycle and that will not take so much time to get to the Neftekhim Arena.

– What about your education?

– I study remotely in 11th grade. Teachers send me assignments; I complete them by the due date.

– How did your parents react to the fact that you moved to another city at the age of 16?

– At the age of 14, I flew to Canada and trained at the Don Mills Flyers club. There were guys from the Czech Republic, Russia and USA. I stayed there for a year and a half, and returned back home last summer.

– Who put you on skates?

– I do not remember, but I started skating when I was three years old. I am happy that I play hockey.

– You have no penalty minutes in the JHL. Why?

– I just try to play in a right way.

– What do you think about last game against Stalnye Lisy?

– It is a pity that we lost this game and did not get two point.

– What do you prefer to do on your free time?

– I can play PC gameы not so long, because it gets boring. I study a lot. I can go for a walk with the guys. My life is in hockey-study mode. I have been used to this since childhood. Home - school - arena - homework – bed time.
