Nikita Khlystov: «It gives us something to think about»

09.10.2025

Neftekhimik defenseman Nikita Khlystov speaks with the media after a following 1–4 loss against Amur.

It is difficult to comment on games like this. We expended a lot of energy today. We did almost everything, if not everything, then at least a great deal to win. We shot a lot and attacked. Something just did not quite work out. Sometimes we are channeling our emotions in the wrong direction, sometimes we probably need to focus on ourselves, turn our attention to ourselves, hold ourselves accountable, and score more goals. Because there are opportunities, and it is very difficult to win a game with just one goal. Everyone understands this, and the coach said so. It was a tough game. But at the same time, it gives us something to think about before the next game.

How tough is it mentally when you are playing well but there is no result?
Well... it is tough, of course. But that is hockey, that is sport, and without losses there are no victories. So we need to not panic, but draw the right conclusions and move forward.

There are good shots and goal–scoring chances, but the luck..
Luck has to be earned and I did not say that, it has been that way for ages. So, apparently, we are not working hard enough somewhere. And again, I will say it againeveryone needs to hold themselves to higher standards: put in more effort in training and in games, aim even harder for the goal, and try to score.
