Oleg Leontyev: «Our team fought to the very end»

Oleg Leontyev:

- From the one hand, our team had good goal-scoring chances and made plenty of shots. It was an equal game in some way. Our team fought to the very end. From the other hand, if we look at the scoreboard … We should forget this game and move on to the first game of the season.

In the first period, our team played more in offensive zone. Was it coaching staff’ task?

-We always play offensive hockey and spend more time in the opponent's zone.

Today, we conceded garbage goals. Did it happen due to lack of luck or mistakes in our D-zone?

- These goals are part of the game. As it says, fortune smiles upon the strongest, especially if you make a lot of shots and attack opponent’s net. There is no luck. You know, skilled teams are capable to score a goal out of nothing.

Coaching staff made a goalie change.

- We wanted to let both goalies play, like 50 on 50 of ice time, later; we decided to let Frans play the whole game. In the last two days, he has not been training at full strength. Perhaps, this affected his today’s game. Therefore, after the third goal, I decided to make a goalie change.

 Is negative experience is also an experience?

- If you win or lose, anyway, you get useful experience. Each game gives us a lot of food for thought. We should think about it. It is good that in the preseason we played against strong teams. We did it on purpose to find our weaknesses.
