Press Conference «Neftekhimik – Sochi» 12/06/2022

Oleg Leontyev, the head coach of HC Neftekhimik:

– It was an interesting game. Both teams played fast fast-paced hockey. There were plenty of goal-scoring chances. We scored good goals and played to the very end. Congratulation to everyone on a victory!

– It seemed that in compare to the last game against Lokomotiv the team skated much faster faster. How did you manage give them kind of a boost?

– You know our schedule - games every other day. It is obvious, that the main thing is recovery. Our guys spend time in medical and massage rooms. They recover from game to game. We have short practices. It is clear that Lokomotiv is a strong team. We were preparing for this game. I think that upcoming game against Metallurg will be a tough one too.

– This season Neftekhimik gets close to the playoffs and goes out of top 8. In your opinion, what should be done in order to make the playoffs?

– All teams want to make playoffs and we want too. As I said before, we have a hard schedule. In the first three months, we have 15 home games 21 road games. In December, the number of home and road games will be equalized and as a result, we will get a better place in the standings.

Sergei Svetlov, the head coach of HC Sochi:

– It was a hard game until the last seconds. At times, we had a game advantage, and at times the opposing team attacked well. We had chances to score more than two goals. It is a pity that in the end of the third period we did not take advantage of the penalty shot. I think that good result should come soon.
