Neftekhimik Head Coach Igor Grishin speaks with the media after a following 3–1 win over Sibir.
– The game began in unusual way, a penalty straight away. Even so, we scored while short-handed, and that was a big break for us. From there, the play went back and forth, the teams looked evenly matched, and we turned out to be the luckier side.– Neftekhimik has already got three wins over Sibir this season. Would you call them an opponent you like to play against?
– I do not want to tempt fate, but we are on a winning run. Every run ends at some point, of course, the later it happens for us, the better.
– After the last game, you said the team needs to play with its head, not only with its emotions. How did that work out today?
– Emotion has to be part of the game, if it is the right kind, aimed at the play itself. We tried to push the guys to put all their energy into the game. There were no real problems there, even with mistakes along the way. For the most part, we kept our emotions in check, but late in the game I got a little carried away myself: I had four forwards on the ice just as the opponent pulled its goalie for an extra skater. In the end, the finish made up for it.
