Sevastyan Sokolov: «I dedicate my first goal to my parents»

07.03.2026

Neftekhimik forward Sevastyan Sokolov speaks with the media after a following 4–3 win over Admiral.

– Sevastyan, Congrats on scoring your fist and second KHL goals! How does it feel?
Thank you, the emotions are absolutely incredible... honestly, there's nothing more to say.

You must have been nervous. How did you cope with that?
The doctor gave you a Validol pill, and that's how I dealt with it (smiles).

How did you score you goal?
Before the power play, my teammates told me to wait for the pass. I waited there, it came, and that was it.

Who do you dedicate your debut goal to? Who was the first to congratulate you?
I dedicate my first goal to my parents. So far, only the team has congratulated me.

Who cheered you on the most before and during the game?
Everyone, they were always cracking jokes, creating great atmosphere in the locker room, so it was pretty easy.

What did you have for breakfast? Why did you even score two?
As always, scrambled eggs and pasta... (smiles).

What can  you say about this game?
Well, it was a good game, a real thrill. So there's still a lot to work on and move forward.

What was the key moment of the game?
Every save by Ozolin.

The last game was in the Far East, and the team looked better today. Is this the end of the adjustment process, or did the coaching staff made it's point after last game?
I wouldn't say that. We just analyzed the game, learned from it, worked on it, and everything worked out.

We still conceded a goal at the end of the game. How important was it to keep a cool head at that moment?
We absolutely needed to keep a cool head so we could finish the game with more confidence.

The final stretch of the championship is coming up. What do we need to do in order to keep the winning streak alive?
Win.

Today is our seventh day in the Far East. How's the adjustment going?
I settled in right away. You just can't go anywhere. It's always night time here, when we're awake. And falling asleep at noon is unusual, and that's all.
