The traditional Victory Game took place at Neftekhim Arena

08.05.2026

On the eve of the great holiday, May 8, the annual Victory Game between the Nizhnekamsk Hockey Veterans and Neftekhim Wolves teams took place on the ice of the Neftekhim Arena.

Neftekhimik General Director and Nizhnekamsk Hockey Veterans goaltender Igor Larionov:

This tradition arose for two reasons. First is to honor the memory of our fathers and grandfathers who fought and won the Great Patriotic War. Second, it was initiated by the factory workers, who wanted to play as a veterans team on the eve of May 9. For nearly 15 years in a row, we have been holding this symbolic and exhibition game on the eve of Victory Day.

This year, the event included the Immortal Regiment tradition. Each participant, if possible, brought a photo of a relative who defended the Motherland. Also the members of the "Combat Brotherhood" movement were invited – war zone veterans, including those currently participating in the special military operation – and their families.

Before the game, guest of honor Oleg Kornilov performed the famous song
"From the Heroes of Bygone Times" from the film "Officers". After that,  Special military operations veteran Zaur Muratov performed the ceremonial face-off.

Neftekhimik defensive coach Alexei Pepelyayev:
– This is my first experience participating in the Victory Game. It's very important to remember our grandfathers and grandmothers who gave their lives for our future. It's an honor for me to skate here with the veterans.

Neftekhim Wolves player Aidar Gilfanov:
– Every year we play the Victory Game. Despite the friendly nature of the game, the sporting spirit remains. We want to delight the fans with a spectacular game. As you can see, there are a lot of them today – especially the people in military uniform in the stands.

A lot of young people attended the game. Fans supported the teams, chanting "
Shot!", and many brought posters were brought, just like at a real season game. Every goal was greeted with applause and noisemakers.

The gamee ended with a 8–3 score in favor of the Veterans, but the Wolves prevailed in the shootout series. However, it wasn't just one team that won today Memory won! Our gratitude to the heroes won.

We hope this game will forever remain in the hearts of all participants as a symbol of unity, patriotism, and respect for our history.
