Neftekhimik defensman Timur Khairullin speaks with the media after a following 0–1 agaisnt Amur.
– It was a tough game. Overall, it was an evenly matched game. What was missing for the win?– First and foremost – scored goals. We played well and created plenty of chances, but we did not have much luck with finishing. We were taking shots and threatening the goalie, but we just could not score.
– What about the physical side? Did you perhaps run out of steam a bit?
– I think we are in good shape. We kept pace with the opponent. To me, it felt like an even game.
– The road trip went well. How do you rate it overall?
– It is good that we won the previous two games. But we were aiming for a win in this one, too. We fought hard and gave it our all until the end, but we just fell a little short.
– What is the mood like heading home?
– You always want to win. There is a bit of disappointment, of course, but we are already preparing for the next games.
– Did the challenges the team faced during this series – like the rescheduled game and the travel – help bring everyone together or boost team spirit?
– The team is improving with every game, and it shows! We are all playing for the team. The guys are working hard and giving it their all.
