Reaktor defenseman Vsevolod Kuznetsov speaks with the media after a following 3–2 win over Sputnik.
– You scored your first JHL goal and such an important one, at that. Tell us how it happened, what you were feeling, and whether it gave the team a spark.
– Thanks. Yes, I managed to score, but the main thing is that it helped the team – everything we do is for the team. I am really glad we won; they are a major rival for us, and we finally managed to break that losing streak. I am happy I could contribute. It was in the final seconds of the game. I knew it was now or never – I had to fight for it. As it turned out, I got a lucky bounce, and the puck landed right on my stick. I was absolutely ecstatic in that moment.
– You had a strong start to the game and created plenty of chances, yet the opponent opened the scoring. How did that happen?
– I am not sure. We were generating a lot and controlling the play, but one mistake was all it took for them to punish us. Our games against Sputnik are always like this; we just need to work on our finishing, because we are missing far too many opportunities.
– This was your fourth game against this team. Did the previous three losses weigh on the squad at all?
– No, not really. If anything, it just gave us more motivation – we kept asking ourselves, "Why cannot we turn this around? Why cannot we win?" The games were always close, too – decided by just one or two goals. The whole team is thrilled to have finally snapped that losing streak, and I am hopeful that we will go on to win the remaining four games against them as well.
