25 Years in the Elite of Russian Hockey

On August 14, 1995, a meeting of the MHL (Межнациональная хоккейная лига in Russian) was held in Moscow. "Neftekhimik" joined the MHL. This league included teams from the former USSR and held the MHL Championship and the MHL Cup. At that meeting, the General Director of IA (Industrial Association) "Nizhnekamskneftekhim" Gayaz Sakhapov took part. By this time, "Neftekhimik" became the winner of the Russian Open Championship and attempted to enter the MHL. Except sporting achievements, it was necessary to build a hockey arena. Gayaz Sakhapov did his best and proved that our city had an ability to build the hockey arena. Our club became a part of MHL after Gayaz Sakhapov’ speech.
"Neftekhimik" will soon celebrate anniversary of entering the Elite of Russian Hockey (25 years)!
In honor of this event, we are opening a new section "25 Years in the Elite of Russian Hockey". We will publish interviews with people who were a part of the team’s achievements.
