Amir Gizyatov: «I should have scored on that penalty shot»

15.10.2026

Reaktor forward Amir Gizyatov speaks with the media after a following 1–2 loss against Belye Medvedi.

– Amir, was there a specific mindset heading into the game against one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference’s Gold Division?
– We approach every opponent the same way. It does not matter which division they are in or where they stand in the standings. Sometimes our game comes together, and sometimes it does not.

– You were neck-and-neck with your opponent in the first period – both in terms of the score and the stats – but what happened afterward? Why did you stray from your game plan?
– We played well in the second and third periods, but we have to capitalize on our chances. I should have scored on that penalty shot. We had a few opportunities late in the game, but the penalties really hurt us.

– Why were you not able to score that penalty shot? It looked like you had the goalie leaning the wrong way...
– Yeah, I did get him to shift, but he left his pad out. I just needed to lift the puck a little bit more.
