Evgeny Mityakin: «We played well in the first period»

01.03.2026

Neftekhimik forward Evgeny Mityakin speaks with the media after a following 2–3 loss against Amur.

– It is pity that we loss this game. We needed to score two more goals in order to win. We played well in the first period. We managed to score first goal of the game. I would like to give credit to my teammates, who fought well and made a good pass. I just had to make a shot.

In the second period, we made mistakes and the opponent punished us for these mistakes – they scored two goals. There was nothing wrong about that. We have made comebacks from trailling three goals. But this time, it didn't work out. We need to continue working on converting the scoring chances that we have.

It's obvious that no one wants to lose. We are at the end of the regular season, and every game is a close one. That's why there are so many brawls, provocations, and body checks. It's a tough and close game. We have another game against Amur ahead. We need to win it.

There were a lot of penalties, what was the reason?
One penalty – a high stick, it just happened. The remaining penalties need to be eliminated because we played quite a bit shorthanded today. We need to analyze, draw conclusions, prepare for the next game, and play to win.

Once again, it was a very close game, and we are losing by one goal. How can chang it?
We need to score more goals than our opponents, and also improve our scoring skills. We also need to be more effective on the power play, because we have a power play, but we need to capitalize on it.
