Neftekhimik Head Coach Igor Grishin speaks with the media before tomorrow's game against Salavat Yulaev.
– Neftekhimik has not won at this arena for quite some time. Does this fact have any mental impact on the team?– We do not actually discuss it with the team. But I do think it has an effect – on me, certainly. To be honest, I am tired of losing here.
– You always emphasize that when facing any opponent, you focus primarily on your own game. Still, what strengths would you highlight in tomorrow’s opponent?
– First of all, Salavat Yulaev has strong goaltending. Secondly, they are a formidable, strong team overall, with skilled players capable of capitalizing on their scoring chances.
– The team held two practice sessions after the home game against Avangard. Did you prepare specifically for the game against Salavat Yulaev, or was it just routine work?
– Just routine practice. Besides Salavat Yulaev, there are 20 other teams. They are all opponents we will be facing in serious games – both home and away – in the near future. So, we prepare step by step, focusing on each opponent as we go.
