Ilya Pastukhov: «The fans' support was fantastic »

10.02.2026

Neftekhimik defenseman Ilya Pastukhov speaks with the media after a following 1–5 loss against SKA.

– We gave up the initiative to our opponents early in the game, then scored a goal, and unfortunately, our mistakes led to this overcome. The fans' support was fantastic today; thank you for cheering for us until the very end. We'll keep fighting for both ourselves and you!

In the first period, and the entire game overall, there were a lot of scoring opportunities. Why did not we score more goals?
In some cases, we needed to play like hockey players, with real force, push the puck in, and score. The opponent's goalie played well today, but we don't care how he plays  we need to score.

– It was a fast–paced game with plenty of scoring chances. What happened during 1–1 score on the scoreboard?
We needed to play more solidly; making excuses isn't our style.

What did the coaching staff say during the breaks?
Nothing special: we need to play until the end. If we'd scored a couple more goals, the game would have turned around. We scored an early goal early in the third period, and unfortunately, it was tough to come back from there.

Did it seem like the opponent's execution was superior?
Today it was superior, on a different leve – that's true.
