Coaching  Staff Changes

Metallurg Mg has already gone through three coaching setups this season. The campaign began with Andrei Razin, who left the club by mutual consent on October 18 and joined SKA right away. Vladimir Vorobyov then took over on an interim basis and put together five straight wins, after which Yuri Trubachyov had a brief spell as acting head coach. On October 23, Konstantin Shafranov was named head coach on a contract through the end of the season. Under Shafranov, the team has posted three wins and two losses.

Roster Changes

Metallurg Mg made targeted roster adjustments over the summer. The club added, among others, 21-year-old goaltender Egor Zavragin and Canadian forward Nathan Todd. Valeri Orekhov is still a key leader on the blue line, and the experienced pair of Yegor Yakovlev and Makar Khabarov gives steady support on the penalty kill.

Key Metallurg Mg Players

Canadian forward Nathan Todd is Metallurg’s top scorer and top goal scorer (10 goals, 10 assists); he was also named the KHL’s Forward of the Month for October. Vladimir Tkachyov and Nikita Mikhailis are contributing as well, with both players on 17 points.
