Playoffs Recap

Let's have a look at history of Neftekhimik vs Avangard games.

Season 2009/10. Neftekhimik made playoffs being in fourth place in the East and faced Omsk with home ice advantage. Avangard, at the time, featured the great Czech forward Jaromir Jagr, but our team managed to overcome the seemingly impossible – the famous forward was completely out of action and didn't make any significant impact. Neftekhimik, on the other hand, had an outstanding series and won it in three games.

Season 2010/11. Less than a year later, the teams faced each other again in the playoffs. Avangard won the East almost entirely, while our team, despite a fairly confident victory, still advanced to the playoff round from eighth place. All experts predicted a 4–0 victory for Omsk. That series became one of the most intriguing in the 2010/11 Gagarin Cup. Neftekhimik led 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 during the series, and was just seven minutes away from victory in Game 6, unfortuntaely, we lost that game. Avangard won Game 7 at home, but that series is still etched in the memories of our fans.

Season 2015/16. Five years later, the teams meet again in the playoffs. Avangard was first in the East, while Neftekhimik literally beat Barys by one point on the home stretch and advanced to the Gagarin Cup from eighth place. The battle against Omsk was fierce in each game. Three games ended with a one–goal difference, and one with a two–goal difference. However, each time, Avangard was a little accurate, a little faster, and won that series 0–4.

Season2025/26. We cannot wait for the series to begin!
