Press Conference «Sibir – Neftekhimik» 2/4/2026

04.02.2026

Neftekhimik Head Coach Igor Grishin speaks with the media after a following 5–2 win over Sibir.

– I think the opponent started out more aggressive, faster and active. It took for us a bit longer to get going in the first period. After that, we scored a good goal, even though we were basically playing four–on–four hockey. That goal gave us a little momentum and energy. After that, we played a little better.

Actually, during the break, we discussed some details with the guys and pointed out a few mistakes. Overall, we were focused after that. I think starting the second period with a man advantage also gave us a certain advantage. We made good use of what we created.

Later, in the third period, we played according to plan: we tried not to break the rules, we tried to push the game further away from our net. Of course, the opponent had to fight back–they forechecked and attacked. The guys did a great job, and everyone played well on defense too.

Before this game we had an unsuccessful road series in Kazan and Ufa. Does it feel like the team was really hungry for this win?
Yeah, I can say that in Kazan, it was our first game after a long break, and the guys weren't in the best shape. We played quite well in Ufa, we had good movement and plenty of scoring chances. Unfortunately, we had a hard time scoring in Ufa. The guys were already determined for today's game, determined to win at all costs. It's good that all the desire the team has is pouring out onto the ice and, in general, achieving its goal.

Filipp Dolganov is playing his second game after injury. What is his physical condition? Were there any concerns that he might get cold?
Well, you yourself said that he played confidently last game too. We always have confidence in Filipp. Both of our goalies are playing at a very good level right now. There was no doubt about it, and he played at the level we expected.

Belozyorov had an unusual penalty at the start of the game. It certainly ended well for Neftekhimik, but what do you think of that penalty?
We are talking with the guys. We have had similar incidents before. Sometimes guys get too emotional in ways we don't want. We are just talking about it over and over again. Some people get it quicker, for others it takes a little longer. Basically, Andrei received his second such warning in the last three games. I think we'll have a serious discussion with him about it.
