Semyon Ruchkin: «It was a good game»

27.10.2026

Neftekhimik forward Semyon Ruchkin speaks with the media after a following 2–3 overtime loss against Metallurg Mg.

– It was a good game. We probably did not settle into it straight away. Metallurg looked a little sharper in terms of movement through the first period and a half. In the third, we began moving more and better; we drew level and clawed our way back into the contest, but unfortunately we could not see it through.

– You were down 0–2 but managed to tie the score. What allowed you to get back into the game?
– I think we started moving more and taking a few more risks, and that helped us create some chances.

– How difficult was it today to break down the defense of the conference leaders?
– Quite difficult. As you could see from the play, we did not have much success with that for the first two periods. We really had to work for it.

– What was the most challenging part of today’s game against Metallurg?
– Overall, it was a well-coordinated game from them. Our opponents always have a sound defensive structure and a systematic approach to everything, which made it tough for us. Still, we managed to handle it.

– How disappointing is it to lose after such a comeback – coming back from a 0–2 deficit?
– Losing is always disappointing. But we have the next game to bounce back. We just need to go out there and win.

– What lessons should be taken from this game?
– You can draw conclusions from every game and every shift. For now, we need to get some sleep, wake up tomorrow with a clear head, and then discuss everything as a team.
