Neftekhimik defenseman Timur Khairullin speaks with the media after a following 2–1 overtime win over Metallurg Mg.
– It was a tough and difficult game. We played against strong and skilled opponent. It was tough for us at times against such a team, but we managed to play well defensively and offensively. We created a lot of scoring chances, but did not take advantage of it. The game went into overtime, and it is great that Sanya (Dergachyov) scored the game–winning goal.
– There was a pretty long break. How much does that affect your condition? How difficult is it to get back into the rhythm after a break?
– Yes, on the contrary, we rested and gained strength. Obviously, we need to warm up at the beginning of the game. The first period might have been a bit chaotic, but we scored, won it, and then we played well.
– The score was pretty tight, moreover, we conceded a goal at the end. How important was it to stay calm?
– The whole game is consist of goals scored and conceded. You always have to stay calm. If you score, great; if you conceded, no big deal. You need to believe in the positive and strive for the victory.
– How important are these kinds of victories for the team?
– Yes, these kinds of victories build a team and a great spirit.
