Vladislav Chertkov: «The team's result is more important to me»

23.09.2025

Reaktor forward Vladislav Chertkov is in his rookie season in the JHL. It is fair to say that Vladislav has had a strong start to the season, scoring two goals! In an interview, he discussed his preparation for the upcoming road trip, his adjusting at Reaktor team, and his career development before joining Reaktor.

– First of all, how are you preparing for the road trip?
– After the home games against Snezhnye Barsy, we had a day off. We started training on Monday, preparing for the upcoming road trip. We have games against Krylya Sovetov and SKA Academy coming up. We will try to win both games to please not only ourselves but also the fans.

– The start of the season was not the best, with the team winning only once in the first four games. However, the team won two home games against Snezhnye Barsy.
Despite the losses, we looked good. The road series did not break us at all, as everyone understands it is only the beginning of the season. Of course, two wins in Nizhnekamsk are a great joy. We will try to build on our success on the road.

How are you adjusting to the team?
It is going well. Yes, it was tough at first, because I had to move to a new city. I cannot help but thank the guys who helped me to adjust to the team as quickly as possible.

Who did you find common ground with right away?
Probably Danil Shishkin, since we previously crossed paths in the Dynamo Moscow system. Otherwise, everyone on the team is friendly and sociable. Everyone is ready to stick up for their teammate, and the older guys try to give them advice. Everyone fights for each other.

You have had a good start to the season – you have already scored two goals! How would you rate your play?
There's always room for improvement. Yes, I had a good start to the season. But I can't stop there; I need to keep working hard. Only through hard work can you achieve success.

You scored your first JHL goal in Krasnoyarsk – a gamewinning goal!
I just closed my eyes and shot. At first, I could not wrap my head around the fact that it was a goal. I cannot describe the emotions I felt at that moment.

How did your career develope before joining Reaktor.
I started my hockey career at the age of six, playing in my hometown of Kirov. Later, I was invited to Olimpia, which plays in Kirovo-Chepetsk. Then I ended up in the Dynamo Moscow system. That is where I graduated.

– In 2021, you played for the Neftekhimik Hockey School...
– There was a small tournament organized at the time. I was invited to play for the Nizhnekamsk team. However, after the tournament, I decided to return to Olimpia.

Did you immediately decide to become a forward?
– I had a choice: either play goalie or forward. I did not think long and decided to play forward. Why did I choose this position? I guess I loved scoring goals even as a kid (laughs).

Overall, what can you say about the JHL?
The game develops much faster here. You need to be able to make quick decisions, play as much as possible, and be more aggressive in the moment.

Does anyone in your family play sports?
Only my dad; he also plays hockey. He started at the Hockey School and now plays amateur hockey.

Does he follow your game? Maybe you discuss your performance together after the game?
Of course! He watches my game closely, and we always talk on the phone after the game. He always offers advice when needed, offering his suggestions on how to handle a given situation.

Where are you studying now?
I am in school, in the 11th grade. I plan to take Russian, advanced math, and social studies. I want to go to college and study to become a coach.

Is it hard to study and play hockey?
Honestly, it is challenging. The schedule is pretty tight, and away games are even more challenging. Just remember our first trip. I did not have time to do my homework; I had to do a lot of homework after arriving to Nizhnekamsk.

What is your goal for your rookie season?
The team's result is more important to me. My goal is to help the team reach the play–in, and then the playoffs. As for my individual goals, I need to establish myself on the roster and only improve!
