Vsevolod Favrichnikov: «Everyone wants to help the team»

Reaktor defenseman Vsevolod Favrichnikov speaks with the media after a following 2–3 (SO) loss against Avto.
– We often have games where we are leading but concede a goal due to a single mistake; the guys get frustrated and start overthinking things, and then it becomes hard to play. We fail to respond with a goal of our own to secure the win. So, it goes to overtime – or sometimes even a shootout – and at that point, it is just a matter of luck.– The first period was really tough today. You were outshot 0–15 on goal. How did you manage to keep them off the scoreboard?
– We played with discipline and blocked a lot of shots. A tough start does not necessarily mean bad play. If we defend well, chances will come at the other end too – which is exactly what happened today.
– You blocked a lot of shots today. At one point, you barely made it back to the bench. Did you take a hit to the leg?
– Yeah, it caught me in the knee, but it is nothing serious. Everyone blocks shots; everyone wants to help the team.
– Just a couple of shifts later, you threw yourself in front of a shot – face-first. The opponent did not get a clean shot off, but were you not scared?
– During the game, there is no time to think about the consequences. You just want to stop the opponent from shooting so they do not score.
– What was the mood in the locker room after the game?
– Everyone was disappointed, but we talked it over and concluded that it was not a disaster. We picked up one point. That is better than nothing. Now we are heading to Chelyabinsk, and we will try to win in regulation time there.
