Coach Alexander Smirnov joined Neftekhimik.

 Alexander Vasilyevich Smirnov has a specialized higher education. Alexander worked as a linesman in the JHL, a scientific methodologist, an analyst for the Russian junior team of different ages, and a coach–analyst at the Spartak (Moscow) hockey academy.

During 2021-2024 seasons Alexander Smirnov was a coach-analyst for HC Metallurg (Novokuznetsk).

He is a silver medalist of the Junior World Championship (2019).
